"Hi can I get your order?"

I don't know, can you?

See, Pushy took time out to bring me for luncheon today. We I wanted to see the new Nexus mall around the block so Pushy trailed along. We parked a looong way from the mall. Approaching the mall entrance there were about 55 people shoving brochures of different kinds into our faces. Spa & beauty.. Food.. Hair services.. Shoes.. Food.. Laundry.. More food.. Brochures of all genre.

We picked only the food ones and threw the rest away. Environmental amiability has gone to the dogs. Amongst the several food brochures a buffet high-tea one caught our attention. I like buffets. I like buffets but I feel bad suggesting to eat buffet when I know I tend to complain of over-eating after I do justice to the buffet. Pushy could tell all these from the little twitch at the corner of my eye... and then we found ourselves checking ourselves into the cafe.

The cafe.. I quite liked its ambience, it had a piney fragrance because everything was from Ikea - Land of Piney Smelling Furniture. Happily Joyfully and Gracefully, we informed the staff we will be having our buffet high tea, and proceeded to discuss the food order using the food order form provided to us.

(10min later)

One staff came and muttered something under her breath, something about the salad bar not being ready. That would indicate the high tea buffet was not available. She politely informed us that if we want to try their buffet we can come back tomorrow to try it. Otherwise if we wanted to try the buffet items today we could order them ala carte. Ho hum.

So ok we went back to the food brochure and decided to take the set lunch instead. We informed another staff and the staff informed us that the set lunch is not available because the salad bar was not ready. Sigh.

Deterred, Pushy and I looked around to find food inspirations from other tables. To our horror and amazement, no one at other tables had managed to order anything - there was no food. We were all sitting there like ducks. Sitting ducks.

Ok back to the menu. Ala carte section in the menu was fabulously done up, nice pictures & many words and good variety. I wonder how much of that was available. Anyway the prices were atrocious so Pushy and I ordered only the more worthy stuff.

All in all, I liked the piney smell of the place. And I think that's about it.

All in all in all, it is very strange to distribute the flyers selling promotional meals and then everything is unavailable and then pray that the customers will not order those. I wonder what the cafe management was thinking there. What a waste of time!   X(

Ho Hum.

Pish Posh VS Riff Raff

I have met my match today.

Pushy and I went for dindin earlier and I fancied a lil' Thai Schmai. Pushy hasn't been there before, so I led the way and got it all wrong.

And then we found ourselves at Ma Maison, Bugis. It's the first time we're there. Ma Maison's a pretty little place, nice ambience, but I think a little too little. It was a weeny-bit too riff-raff for my liking and a little noisy. No pix, sorry, no mood for pix.

Anyways we ordered food. A couple then came in after, and sat beside us. The place was sooo tiny and our seats sooo close, we 2 couples were easily eavesdropping on each others' conversations.

The most irritating thing abt their conversation was that the guy was actin' so pish-posh, talkin' bout the meat quality, the wateva wateva dunno wat, painfully articulating each word with precision. In contrast, his date was speaking comfortably in relaxed enggrish. So, the conversation sounded weird and awkward.

I say, is there a need for this? Relax la, it's not as if the girl'll be grading him or his qualities based on how many words he properly enunciates. Damn poser.

Oi! Why u so like that ar?
Eh, why u so like that?
Eh, why u so like that ar?
Hey Y u So LiKe ThAt?!?!
- quoting Kopi Kat Klan. Kopi Kat Klan is Kool.

p.s. Ma Maison, a lil' over-rated eh?! using the key to replace a bill is the silliest gimmick i've seen. eesh.
